As someone who frequently uses apps while camping, I began to wonder if others face similar challenges. This curiosity led me to initiate a UX case study to better understand how campers interact with these tools. It should simplify the process of finding overnight spots, minimize wasted time, and enhance the overall camping experience. My mission is to identify the key requirements of campers and create an intuitive "Vanlife" app that helps users spend less time searching and more time enjoying their adventures.

To address the need for consistent functionality across three different areas, I collaborated with teams to gather requirements. I developed a Figma prototype and conducted usability tests with five participants. Feedback from the first round highlighted issues, which I addressed before a second round of testing. After analyzing the results, I finalized the concept and designed the user interfaces. Before implementation, I ensured alignment by gathering feedback from the UI design department. This iterative approach ensured a user-centered, polished solution.

To enhance usability, I decided to retain expandable sidebar items for flexibility with multiple sub-levels. Buttons were relocated from the bottom-right to the navigation bar, ensuring they're visible in the user's first view, addressing common usability challenges. A top-bar solution was introduced for managing multiple projects, enabling easy switching and quick access. For users handling many projects, a search function or a project overview page was suggested to improve navigation. As a UX Designer and Architect, I emphasized collaborating with stakeholders to create a global navigation concept that addresses all use cases seamlessly.

On the Verivox loan comparison platform, smartphone users have a lower conversion rate than desktop users. This prompted an investigation into potential causes and solutions. As a UX Researcher, I explored this challenge by conducting desk research, analyzing user flows, benchmarking competitors, and mapping the user journey. The goal was to identify pain points and hypothesize improvements for the smartphone experience. By following a systematic approach, I aimed to uncover actionable insights to optimize the user journey and boost conversions for mobile users.

Great user experiences start with clear, consistent communication! I am creating UX writing guidelines, fully integrated into our design system, to ensure every touchpoint delivers a cohesive experience.I’ll test, analyze, and refine our writing continuously, with special focus on crafting empathetic and consistent error messages. It’s all about content that guides, connects, and delights!

The project focuses on improving the clarity and helpfulness of error messages in data software for a B2B platform. The strategy involves reviewing current messages, researching best practices, and collaboratively redesigning the messages to provide structured, useful guidance to users. The goal is to improve UX maturity and enhance the software’s usability. The project was completed in a two-week sprint, with roles including UX Writer and UX Researcher. The existing error messages were chaotic and unhelpful, often lacking structure or offering vague or uninformative responses.

While working in Value Assurance, I noticed recurring error messages in our software that were confusing for non-technical users. This sparked my interest in UX Writing and its role in crafting clearer, user-friendly messages. After researching best practices and leveraging insights from our content design system, I developed an error message guideline that was well-received by the team. Building on this success, I expanded my efforts to incorporate UX text patterns into the content design system and focus research on high-priority areas, fostering a more seamless user experience.
Inspired by a barcamp session on Lego Serious Play, I wanted to incorporate this method into my workshops despite a lack of budget. After researching open-source materials and identifying necessary Lego bricks, I repurposed old bricks I had at home. This DIY approach allowed me to facilitate engaging sprint retrospectives, which my colleagues thoroughly enjoyed. As a Scrum Master, I found this creative tool to be an excellent way to foster collaboration and reflection in an affordable and effective manner.
Microcopy, or UX writing, plays a vital role in enhancing digital products by making interfaces intuitive, engaging, and user-friendly. This practice relies on a user-centered, empathetic, and data-driven approach while fostering collaboration and consistency. A 30/60/90 Day Plan can address challenges with content by breaking the work into three manageable phases. The goal is to improve the text, establish a foundation for collaboration, and enhance the overall user experience.
After attending a Dev Camp last year, I was introduced to Lego Serious Play during a bar camp session. Excited by the concept, I wanted to try it myself but lacked the budget. I turned to online resources and dug out old Lego bricks from home. As someone interested in Scrum and workshop preparation, I found it to be a creative and engaging way to conduct retrospectives, adding a fresh approach to the process.
To set up a UX research repository in an organization, I started by researching best practices and understanding the benefits. Communicating the value of such a repository effectively, especially to management, requires solid reasoning. Being well-prepared with clear arguments helps in getting buy-in for the project. The next step involves organizing research findings, guidelines, and design assets, ensuring they are easily accessible and useful for the entire team.
Building a UX research repository centralizes insights, guidelines, and design assets, making them accessible to the entire UX/UI team. It helps organize existing knowledge about users and streamlines sharing of research findings across the organization. Before creating a repository, it’s essential to define its purpose by identifying the organization’s specific needs and goals to ensure it effectively addresses key challenges.
